Late Charge is one of our newest TRRAC intakes, coming to us from Maui Meadow Farm. He and several other retired racehorses were staying at the farm while awaiting their forever homes. Late Charge is a classy gelding who is very quiet and mannerly to work with. He loads and ships nicely with just one person, stands on the cross ties for grooming and bathing, loves treats, and does not mind being turned out alone, but is also great with a herd. Late Charge is barefoot and sound - he is ready to start back under saddle and ready for your barn today! This is truly a lovely horse who will finish out to be anything from a pleasure horse to a show horse.

Late Charge's backstory - Please read:

Late Charge originally retired to Maui Meadow Farm to find a home after the racetrack. On July 5, tragedy struck. In a heartbreaking turn of events, the farm’s owner passed away unexpectedly. That same day, in a completely unrelated incident, the farm's manager also suddenly passed away.

In the wake of this sudden loss, TRRAC stepped in to take over the care of these horses, now affectionately known as the "Maui Meadow 6." In totality, TRRAC took over 7 horses.

We are fully committed to honoring their journey and finding each of them a safe, loving permanent home—but we need your help.

Late Charge

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are not resellers; however, it is important that we recoup a portion of each horse’s value based on its level of training, athletic ability, and overall résumé. When adopting through TRRAC, you are selecting a horse with proven experience—whether that is a seasoned trail partner, a horse already showing, or a prospect with upper-level potential.

At times, we offer significantly reduced adoption fees, often during seasonal or holiday specials. These horses may be very green, previously overlooked due to a past (fully disclosed) injury, or limited in their future career paths. There is nothing “wrong” with these horses; lower fees simply help us place horses so we may make space for incoming retirees. Our average waiting list is approximately 8 weeks (60 days), and timely placements allow us to assist more horses in need.

If you are interested in a horse, a non-refundable 20% deposit may be placed to secure the horse for five (5) days. Deposits can be made via PayPal. Please note:

Prices and availability are subject to change at any time (prices are "locked in" once a deposit is placed and a deposit agreement has been signed).

Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee availability.

Horses are not held without a deposit.

A deposit guarantees both the horse’s availability and its current listed fee.

If the required paperwork (adoption contract, bill of sale) and remaining balance are not completed within the specified timeframe, TRRAC will assume the adopter has withdrawn interest, and the deposit will be forfeited.

“Sight-unseen” and out-of-state/international adoptions are welcome. We work exclusively with insured, professional shippers and will keep you updated throughout your horse’s transport. Adopters are financially responsible for all health certificates and transport-related documentation required by the carrier.

For sight-unseen adoptions, we make every effort to provide comprehensive video and photo updates. We strongly encourage utilizing our live virtual appointments to view and discuss horses in real time.

Horses may be tried on-site; however, no off-premises trials are permitted.
